E2 (Entrepreneur Square) is the first crossover platform of the technology and social sectors in Hong Kong. It aims at encouraging entrepreneurs to collaborate and create crossover innovative ideas, products and different types of entrepreneurship so that ultimately entrepreneurs can achieve both goals of creating innovative tech products and solving social problems (poverty in particular) with social innovation. Also, it helps extend the entrepreneurs’ horizons.
In the past two years, E2 has collaborated with the Hong Kong government, Science Park and Cyberport, such as being part of IT Fest organized by the HKSAR OGCIO, to facilitate ‘tech x social’ exchange in the society and formulate new solutions to social problems. We exchange ideas with enterprises and social enterprises from different sectors such as IT, culture, bio-medics, healthcare and education to convey the importance of ‘tech x social’ crossover.
E2 Day aims at facilitating the exchange of ideas of startups, dreamers and innovators from different sectors such as tech, social enterprise, culture, healthcare and education in creating innovative products or services and solving social problems with innovation. In a complicated world, social problems need multi-disciplinary and an integrative, holistic framework to provide solution. That is why we advocate the crossover and integration of innovation in order to encourage and enable more change-makers to engage in such startups and projects. According to the past experience, Tech X Social is the most engaged integration in Asia and HK, and many projects are related to this crossover.
In the insight sharing session of the E2 Day, the experts and experienced entrepreneurs from tech and social sectors would share their experience, insights and views about the crossover of tech and social. In the pitching session, change-makers and entrepreneurs would pitch their startup ideas, products and services in front of audience including gov officials, investors and insiders from tech and social sectors. This round the theme is ‘Poverty Prevention, Relief & Alleviation’, although pitching application of all topics related to Tech X Social is welcome.
In 2015, apart from gaining support from Science Park and other renowned institutions, we were honoured to receive tremendous support from the SIE Fund of Efficiency Unit. Such encouraging move is a solid proof of and acknowledgement to the past endeavour and success of E2 and the E2 Day. SIE Fund would participate in the judging of pitching teams, assist in the marketing of E2, and support the startups during incubation and acceleration process. Moreover, SIE Fund would sponsor the awards in the pitching session. This valuable support provides enormous boost to the pitching startup teams, energizes them in developing innovative, crossover ideas, thus realize their dreams in providing critical solution.
